The goal | The subject should enable students to acquire knowledge about: tobacco manufacturing for the purpose of obtaining consumption products - cigarettes, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco and snuff; the usability of tobacco; tobacco products structure; smoke formation, components and sensory properties of smoke; methods that can influence the quantity and composition of tobacco and environmental smoke. | |||
The outcome | Students should be able to understand and explain: the usability of tobacco;difference between basic tobacco products-smoke and extract; tobacco products structure and their role in the combustion process and smoke formation;methods that can influence on smoke yield and composition;smoke quality control; principles of action of each individual additive and mechanisms of their transition to smoke. | |||

Contents of lectures | Cigarette, definition, structure; technological basics of cigarette production; formation and modification of the amount and composition of cigarette smoke; smoking mode; other tobacco products; smoke quality control; sensory properties; classification of additives by types and thermal stability of additives. | |||
Contents of exercises | Principles and process of cigarettes manufacturing; Determination of physical characteristics of cigarettes; Cigarette smoke - smoking process; Determination of physical, chemical and sensory properties of smoke; Determination of the burning rate of cigarettes; Correction of flavor, aroma and burning with additives. | |||

Methods of teaching | Theoretical and practical teaching in combination with interactive teaching will be held in all areas. The course has three test exams and the colloquium at the end of practical classes. | |||
