The goal | The course should enable the student to acquire knowledge / understanding of microorganisms important for the field livestock production, specific areas related to the role of microorganisms in milk production, meat, fish, eggs and animal feed. | |||
The outcome | At the end of the module the student should: understand the characteristics of groups of bacteria important for livestock production; to consider the role of microorganisms in the production of milk, meat, eggs, fish and animal feed; perform microbiological control in the production of milk, meat, eggs, fish and animal feed and apply the principles of sanitation. | |||

Contents of lectures | Morphology, physiology and ecology of microorganisms; Systematics and genetics of Microorganisms; Microbiological transformations of organic compounds; Microorganisms in the production of milk, meat, eggs, a fish; Microorganisms in animal feed production; The role of microorganisms in the digestion of animal feed; Microbiological control of animal feed; Basic principles of sanitation; Legislation. | |||
Contents of exercises | Theoretical classes are accompanied by practical laboratory exercises in following areas: knowledge of basic microbiological techniques of microorganism observation, isolation and cultivation microorganisms, introduction to the most important species that have practical application in animal husbandry production. | |||
