The goal The subject should enable students to acquire knowledge and understanding of tobacco leaf chemistry and its surface; comprehension about the influence of tobacco processing procedures on tobacco quality; to acquire knowledge about primary and secondary tobacco leaf manufacturing, as well as understanding the basic mechanisms which create certain groups of components in tobacco smoke.
The outcome At the end of the course, students should know how to improve processes in production and environmental protection, as well as to introduce innovations based on: choosing the most suitable way of using a certain part of the tobacco plant and and the maximum use of tobacco waste; application of modern methods in the production of less risky tobacco products and modern analytical methods.
    Contents
Contents of lectures Critical points and risk factors which determine the quality during production, processing, manufacturing and storage; utilization of tobacco scraps and dust; exploitation of green tobacco mass; tobacco products which are not consumed in the form of smoke; tobacco smoke formation processes; harmful elements of tobacco smoke; modification of tobacco smoke composition; new tobacco products.
Contents of exercises Practical classes and study research work on the field and in laboratory are planned based on all lecture chapters.
