    The goal The objective of the module is that students acquire knowledge on the importance of correct identification of plant pests; the characteristics of phytophagous organisms relevant for identification; various procedures and methods for identification of plant pests.
    The outcome Students are expected to show knowledge of: the method of monitoring and collecting the phytophagous organisms; symptoms relevant for identification; morphological characteristics and techniques essential for identification of plant pests
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Monitoring and collection procedures in agricultural entomology, acarology, nematology and zoology. Identification of phytophagous insects, mites, nematodes, snails, rodents on the basis of their morphology and the damages they cause to the plants. Biological, biochemical and molecular techniques used for identification of phytophagous organisms and their natural enemies
    Contents of exercises Implementation of various methods of detection and identification of plant pests.

    Methods of teaching Lectures, practical instruction - practical lessons, interactive instruction. Compulsory seminar paper (one in total). After the completion of the instructions the students take a colloquium. Oral final examination.
