Through theoretical and practical teaching, the student should be able to classify of all types of waste in technology of crop materials processing, to choose the most optimal method for the waste re-use, and the safe waste disposal.
The outcome Upon course completion, students should be able to understand and explain: the difference between non-hazardous, inert and hazardous waste; classification of waste generated in certain processing technologies of agricultural raw materials; appropriate technological solutions in reducing the generation of waste, reducing the hazardous characteristics of waste and safe waste disposal.
    Contents
Contents of lectures Classification, types, places of origin, collection and transportation of waste; Legislative regulations and waste management strategy of the EU and Serbia; Economic and ecological aspects of waste recycling; Waste treatment processes: mechanical, biological, physical-chemical, thermal; Aspects of energy efficiency; problems of hazardous waste treatment; safe disposal of waste at landfills.
Contents of exercises Presentation of students' seminar papers; Sorting of waste from the parts of the selected processing technology plant; Choosing the best technology for waste treatment; Calculating the degree of waste utilization.
