      The goal At the end of the course, students will understand the structure of cells and chromosomes, the process of division and elimination of chromosomes, methods of staining chromosomes, physical and genetic maps of chromosomes and the importance of chromosome engineering.
      The outcome Students will be trained to apply various laboratory techniques in cytogenetics. Students will be able to construct chromosome maps and apply the acquired knowledge and skills in plant breeding.
      Contents
      Contents of lectures Structures of cells and chromosomes. Laboratory techniques in cytogenetics. Chromosome counting and staining. Cytometry. Chromosome engineering. Physical and genetic maps of chromosomes. Application of cytogenetics in plant breeding.
      Contents of exercises Study research - It will be organized individually depending on the topic of the doctoral dissertation, and will include the preparation and writing of seminar and scientific papers.
