    The goal Understanding the genetic basis of the plant traits used in breeding, basic principles and methods of the selection of new varieties and the improvement of existing varieties of horticultural crops, and procedure for registering varieties.
    The outcome The content and method of teaching will enable students to be prepared for team work in area of plant breeding and the presentation of acquired knowledge.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures (1) Genetic resources for plant breeding, (2) Fertilization of plants and genetic basis of traits, (3) Hybridization, (4) Mutations, (5) Selection, (6) Application of biotechnology in plant breeding, (7) Registration of varieties.
    Contents of exercises Analysis of biometric parameters in plant breeding; Application of the techniques of emasculation, hybridization and other methods of inducing trait variability; Application of biotechnology in plant breeding.
