    The goal The course enables the student to acquire: 1. knowledge about measurements in chemistry, structure of matter, chemical thermodynamics, solutions, ionic and redox reactions, basic classes of inorganic and organic compounds.
    The outcome upon completion of the course, the student should be able to solve concrete problems in the fields of: 1. measurements in chemistry 2. structures of atoms, ionic and covalent compounds; 3. thermodynamics and redox reactions; 4. solutions; 5. describe the structure, physical-chemical properties, reactivity and biological role of basic classes of inorganic and organic compounds;

    Contents of lectures 1. Measurements in chemistry; 2. Structure of matter; 3. Ionic and covalent compounds; 4. Stoichiometry and classification of chemical reactions; 5. Thermochemistry; 6. Chemical equilibrium; 7. Chemical thermodynamics and kinetics; 8. Solutions; 9. Acids and bases; 10. Buffers and salt hydrolysis; 11. Redox reactions; 12. Biogenic elements; 13. Structure and biological role of organic compounds.
