The goal | The course should enable the student to acquire knowledge about the specific role of plants as indicators of contaminated soils, mechanisms by which soil or water contaminants are transferred to plants, harmful effects of different contaminants on plants and food chains, mechanisms of adaptability and resistance of plants and practical application of plants for removing contaminants from the soil.
The outcome | At the end of the course, the student needs to possess the knowledge and skills for phytoindication and phytoremediation, to identify the possible solution for soil and water contamination and apply techniques for phytoremediation. It is expected that students will understand the importance of phytoindication and phytoremediation for health-safe food production and environmental protection.
