The goal The aims of the course are to provide students with knowledge about new methods that can be used to detect the reactions of plants to different environmental conditions, and that can be applied in experimental work in controlled conditions and in different agroecosystems.
The outcome At the end of the module, students should have knowledge of the application of appropriate techniques for monitoring the plant's reactions to various environmental conditions, especially for abiotic stress factors caused by climate change.
    Contents
Contents of lectures Methods of monitoring plant growth. Hyper and multispectral methods, application of sensors for monitoring photosynthesis, and determinations of pigments, nitrogen, and carbon. Methods for root phenotyping. Application of infrared thermography. In situ and remote sensing for plants and soil water content monitoring. Visual identification of nutrient deficiency and toxicity symptoms on plants.
Contents of exercises As part of practical classes, students will learn about different methods, and in the field and in laboratory conditions they will monitor the reactions of plants to different environmental conditions.
