The goal The course should enable students to acquire knowledge on the application of phenotypic and molecular markers in genetics and plant breeding. The student will be introduced to the analytical methods for genotyping and molecular characterization in identification of plant varieties.
The outcome Student should demonstrate a systematic and fundamental knowledge and understanding of the application of molecular markers in agriculture, especially in the field of plant breeding. The student should successfully follow the contemporary scientific discovery in this field.
    Contents
Contents of lectures Markers, Phenotypic Markers, Molecular Markers, Analytical Methods, Electrophoresis (A-PAGE, SDS-PAGE, CE, IEF, IE, 2D), Sequencing, DNA Hybridization (FISH, GISH), DNA Amplification (PCR, RT-PCR, STS, EST, SSR, RAPD, SNP), Blotting (RFLP), DNA Microarray.
Contents of exercises Study research will be organized individually depending on the topic of the doctoral dissertation and will be conducted through the application of information programs (softwears), in the experimental field or in the laboratory, and will include the preparation and writing of seminar and scientific papers.
