    The goal Mastering both receptive language skills (reading, listening) and productive skills (speaking, writing) in selected situations of agronomic discourse. Special attention is paid to English agronomic terminology, developing the skill of independent translating, academic writing and academic discourse, primarily the structure and writing of abstracts and research articles in English.
    The outcome Upon completing the course, the student should acquire: (1) professional operational competence (use of English agronomic literature), (2) linguistic and sociolinguistic competence (use of agronomic terminology according to norms and foreign language usage) and (3) socio-cultural competence (ability to apply acquired knowledge in accordance with expectations of foreign partners).
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Active adoption and application of lexical-grammatical knowledge on the material of agronomic texts, and academic writing. Presentation of modern models of business correspondence, writing abstracts and scientific papers, writing a biography, etc. Internet usage training.
    Contents of exercises Dialogic and monologic speech; lexical-grammatical and translation exercises; academic writing, using the Internet.
