The goal to allow the students to acquire knowledge and understanding of a variety of methods that are used in scientific research in entomology: method of sample collection, making a collection, fixation of the insects and the production of durable and histological preparations, studying the dynamics of populations of insects, use a variety of molecular methods in entomology.
The outcome Students are expected to demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical basis of methods used in entomology research and to be prepared to use this methods while working in the laboratory and in the field.
      Contents
Contents of lectures General properties of the various groups of insects; Methods of collecting insects; Methods of fixation of insects, the methods of making insects slides and making database; The methods of making durable preparations; Methods for monitoring insects in the field and quantitative analysis of their populations; molecular methods in entomology.
Contents of exercises introduction to the various methods of studying the various groups of insects, the detailed knowledge of the methods, in the fields of entomology, from which doctoral dissertation is supposed to be done.
